Your life is indeed tuned in to the frequency of grace and that makes it a joy for all of us blessed to know you and to wish you a memorable birthday on May 28th.
You have no idea what retirement means, and we are glad for you motivating us to forge ahead and to excel. You remain determined to inform/educate our colleagues of all hues the accomplishments of women of color in diplomacy. Your recent publications about African American Women Ambassadors will be a permanent resource for the instrumental role many of us played in resolving conflicts worldwide.
Ruth, your kindnesses in daily encounters are manifest in your genuine personal and professional relationships. Many of us have benefitted from your commitment. Stacy Williams, Justin Davis, Nicholas Bassey, Jessica Davis Ba, Dana Banks, Marcia Bernicat, Pamela Spratlen are just a few who come to mind. A comprehensive list of your mentees along with your pivotal involvement in the creation of ICAP. IWEC, and ACE Health Foundation’s Global Leaders of Excellence Network would merit several chapters in diplomatic history books. There are scores of others at home and abroad who have benefitted from your wisdom and determination to make this world an inclusive and respectful place.
