Hon. Dr. Cecilia Ngetich Politician and Entrepreneur
Hon. Dr. Cecilia Ngetich is a member of Parliament for the Republic of Kenya, an entrepreneur and a farmer. With a background as an exemplary science teacher, a facilitator and Certified Professional Mediator and her passion for Science, Technology Education and Mathematics (STEM), she was propelled into the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) at the Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa ( CEMASTEA). She successfully implemented a project in collaboration with the Japanese International Corporation Agency(JICA) named; Strengthening of Mathematics and Science in Secondary Schools (SMASSE).
Since joining the Kenyan Parliament in 2013, Hon. Dr. Cecilia Ngetich has made tremendous contributions to education, particularly through the enactment of the Kenya Engineering Technology Act 2016. She has been a member of various organizations such as; Linking Industry with Academia (LIWA) Trust, Permanent Working Group on TVET, and a Chair of the Meru National Polytechnic Council among others.
Dr Cecilia is a strong advocate for the economic empowerment of women in agriculture, and the conservation of the environment. Through her partnership with the current First Lady of Kenya and the Joyful Women Organization (JOYWO), she has worked to train women in table banking, harnessing social capital for economic growth. Additionally, she has been actively fighting against retrogressive cultural practices such as FGM, early marriages and teenage pregnancies.
